The Inhumans Vs. X-Men mini series comes off of the Death of X mini series in which we find out that the Terrigen cloud that is roaming the Earth creating new Inhumans is also causing a disease that is killing off the Mutants. After Beast admits to the rest of the team that there is no way to find a cure, the X-Men led by Storm, Magneto, Emma Frost and Old Man Logan decide that its time to take the fight New Attilan and destroy the remaining cloud.
The X-Men Were Wrong..The Inhumans Were More Wrong
The X-Men take the Inhumans by storm and really show just how strategic and powerful they are. Unlike the movies, this series shows the team making a coordinated attack on New Attilan and taking down one of the most powerful beings on earth in Black Bolt and removing the entire royal family from Earth and leaving them in Limbo. However, where the X-Men fell short was forgetting that the Terrigen cloud created a bunch of new Inhumans who they have no knowledge of and it was the new Inhumans who made the comeback on the X-Men.
This story was basically an all out war with little character development except for Medusa, Emma Frost and Magneto. Medusa was so hellbent on this cloud creating all these new Inhumans that she for a while was willing to let the X-Men get hurt. However the X-Men never told the Inhumans just how serious this issue was, because Emma and Magneto had a secret with Cyclops death and they wanted this fight. But, this story did a great job of putting an emphasis on new Inhumans, and young X-men and the conflict was solved by Moon Girl, who in a short period of time as become one of the smartest people in the Marvel Universe. The Inhumans are full of young, bright, diverse characters who should be a big part of the comic and with the television show this fall the MCU. As far as the X-Men go, many thought Marvel was writing off the X-Men and now this sets up and interesting dynamic to see who follows Magneto and Emma and who follows Storm. Emma and Magneto has proven to be ruthless and untrustworthy, but at the end of the day they were trying to save their race.
