The Starks are Back but Not Together
At first I thought with the Stark’s luck there is no way Arya makes it to Winterfell or at the very least Sansa, Bran and Jon would be gone, but I was wrong. Arya the badass stark made her return in such great Arya fashion. She showed up one her own, made two stupid male security guards look stupid and then proceeded to show Sansa why she is one of the best assassins on the show with her training session with Brienne. There was some odd interactions between the siblings, you would think there would be more joy. However, Bran is completly seperated from humanity now and has gone full Three Eyed Rave, Sansa is preoccupied being Queen of the North and dealing with Littlefinger and Arya has changed from the little brat Sansa remembers and now is a full on ninja.
Littlefinger tries to get his claws into Bran by giving him the Valaryian steel dagger but Bran is a cripple and has no use for it so he give it to Arya who I am pretty sure will use that blade to kill Cersei. Who kills Cersei in the end is interesting because everyone hates her, however it would be poetic justice for that blade to kill Cersei after her and Jamie pushed Bran out the window all the way back in season 1. The show is also making Sansa out to be a shady figure, the way she looks at Bran and Arya and how much interaction she has with Littlefinger makes me think she is about to make a bad decision coming up. Lastly Bran’s powers are growing and he basically sees everything, but he has to be able to manage being Bran and the Three Eyed Raven in order to explain his visions to people. Its almost like all the Starks have a magical component to their existence except for Sansa so it will be interesting to see if anything manifest in her in the next season and a half.
Jon Found the Proof of the White Walkers
When Jon was scoping out the mine of Dragonglass he saw these hieroglyphics that the Children of the Forest made thousands of years ago and they basically tell story of how them and the first men put their differences aside to fight a common enemy who were the Army of the Dead. Danny seemingly finally believes Jon but informs him that she will help him as long as he bends the knee. Jon talks about how his people can’t trust a southern leader, Danny tell him to put away his pride and and do whats right for his people.
Soon after they get news from Tyrion and Varys that they successfully took Casterly Rock, but their fleet was burned and the Lannisters took High Garden. Danny wants to go straight to the red keep and burn Kings Landing and take the Iron throne. All’s fair in love and war was Danny’s message however in the war she needs to take a better route in order to rule. Danny not convinced and tired of loosing the war vowed to ride her dragons and do it herself. Tyrion vehemently fights against this but to no avail and in a surprise move Danny ask Jon Snow for his opinion. Jon basically says yes Danny you could win the war that way, but how does that make you any different then any of the other rulers in the past. The people in Westoros have been living in shit and war for ages and its time for someone to change that cycle.
Danny Take the War to the Lannister’s
After getting outsmarted at every point in the war so far, Danny decides to listen to Tyrion and Jon and takes the fight to the Lannisters army who just took High Garden instead of going straight to Kings Landing. In one of the best fight scenes in the show’s history Daenerys rides in on Drogon along with the Dorthraki army and pretty much obliterated the Lannister Army. Dragons are really the cheat code, they were burning the Lannister Army to ashes and the Dorthraki in an open field is a problem. War can be brutal but this fight was especially brutal even the horses were getting sliced up. Tyrion advised against Danny participating in the fight, but along with the theme of the show the last couple seasons, women can do anything the men can do and in most cases they can do it better. Danny was flying Drogon like an Air Force Fighter Pilot and deystroying the army before Bron unleashes the Dragon crossbow and nails Drogon in the wing. This is the point of controversy on this episode. Some people loved this momennt and some people though it was a Glenn Dumpster moment. Danny is trying to pull the arrow out Drogon, and Jamie sees this as his opening to end the war and kill Daenerys, Drogon turns around and is seemignly about to torch Jamie’s ass when Bron out of nowhere jumps of his horse, tackles Jamie into the water and the show goes to black. Not only was this episode 8 mins short but, we are to assume Jamie and Bron made it even though the were sinking with heavy ass armor and its no way they did not get burned at all. I am of the opinion that this is possible, but when we come back next week they better have retrieved Bron and Jamie from the water and have them as prisoners. If Bron and Jamie somehow get away then the show really stopped giving a shit about explaining things. I don’t expect that from this show, and I expect next week to see the Lannister army surrender and Danny and Jon figure out a way to fight both wars at the same time.
